In order to make your scissor fob or ornament, you need to first backstitch a square around your design, three stitches (6 threads) from the edge of the design. If you are stitching over one, you will backstitch the square 3 threads from the edge of the design.

You will need two backstitched squares, and they must be the same size. You will also need thread that matches your backstitched square. Trim any excess fabric, ½ inches away from the backstitched line.

Thread your needle with one strand of thread. Secure it on the backside of the backing fabric, in a corner, and bring your needle up in that corner. Run your thread under the stitch immediately to the left of that corner (going counter-clockwise). Then line up that stitch with the matching stitch on your second piece of fabric.

Start sewing the pieces of fabric together, one stitch at a time, lining up the backstitching and fabric. Be very careful not to miss a stitch, or use a stitch twice. You will add a bead to each stitch, or every other stitch, depending on how decorated you prefer it to be. Continue sewing the stitches together, adding a bead with each stitch.

The corners can be a bit tricky, but just make sure to not skip a stitch, or use a stitch twice, and continue sewing all around your scissor fob/ornament. Sew together all sides, but leave about 1 inch open on the final side. You will need this opening to add batting.

Fill your accessory with batting, as full as you would like it. Finish sewing the pieces of fabric together to close up the pillow. If you would like to add a beaded tassel, you will need some beading thread. Cut a length ~24 inches long. Secure one end to your pillow, and start adding beads with a thing needle.

Add several inches of beads and loop the thread back into the corner of the pillow. Do several loops in this manner. When you have the desired fullness of loops, tie off with a small knot and tuck it into the pillow.

If you are using this pillow as a scissor fob, you can add large clasp or a loop of ribbon to attach the fob to your scissors. If you are using this pillow as an ornament, use the desired length of ribbon for hanging on a tree.
